CCMS Library Media Center

Welcome to Cedar Creek Middle School Library Media Center
Alison Harris-Librarian

Cedar Creek Middle School Library Media Center is the information center for the school. In support of our commitment to high educational standards, the Library Media Center promotes efforts to ensure that every student has intellectual access to information in all formats. This includes a broad range of ideas and encourages both free inquiry and ethical use of materials. Because teaching is the focal point of a school library, the CCMS Library Media Center supports teaching, learning, and research in an intellectually and culturally open environment. Our goal is to create life-long learners by integrating information literacy into the curriculum and fostering a love of reading.

About our Library
Our library has a collection of well over 10,000 items that circulate to students and staff.  We have non-fiction, fiction, picture books, graphic novels, Spanish, bilingual, e-books, and professional resources for teachers.  We were bestowed a huge gift over the summer in terms of Texas Learning Initiative funds.  We have purchased over $12,000 in new books and have a new look.  We are elated to share this blessing with all of our students and staff.

The library is open every day from 8 am to 4 pm.  Computers and printers are available for student use during the entire day.  Many days classes are in the library working on research projects, learning how to use the library effectively, and improving reading and writing skills.  We look forward to having you sit-a-spell, relax, read, work on classwork, research, or enjoy one of our many new magazine subscriptions.

Books may be kept for 2 weeks or longer with renewal, and students in good standing may check out up to 2 books at a time .

Book Fairs
The library holds one book fair each school year. This year's Book Fair is Nov. 3-10.  We are having a parent showcase on November 8 from 8-9 AM.  If you can't make it to the fair in person, you can click on this link to order online.  http://www.scholastic.com/bf/cedarcreekmiddleschool

Libraries allow children to ask questions about the world and find the answers. And the wonderful thing is that once a child learns to use a library, the doors to learning are always open.

Please speak with Mrs. Harris to book the library. We will use the paper calendar in the library to schedule all visits. Thanks.
